You see, you had a lot of crooks tryin' to steal your heart.

As I was driving home yesterday, I was jammin' out to my radio (obvi). So old school.  Anyway, this song came on, and I was like, "This kind of sounds like Lil' Wayne...but nooo, it can't be. He's not even really rapping...?". I didn't get it. But I liked it. Well, it turns out the song was How To Love by Lil' Wayne (I was SHOCKED). But what I like even more is this cover by Sam Tsui, who is AMAZING. I'm pretty much obsessed...

I have a problem.  I have no money, but I like to spend it...yeah, it's an issue. Which is exactly why I love Kohl's.  I love how they always make you feel like you saved so much more money than shopping anywhere else. I'm a little skeptical as to how they do this and still make money, but hey, I'm not going to complain. What really makes Kohl's so worthwhile is definitely my girl Lauren Conrad's collection.

Actually, I just love how she models her own line...

When you lose yourself, you find a key to paradise.

I'm going to keep listening to summer-y music as long as I can. Especially Knee Deep by Zac Brown Band because it's just too good.  As a kid, I was obsessed with Jimmy Buffet, so you can imagine how excited I was when I heard his magical voice in this song.

Shoulderless shirts? I'm not quite sure how I feel about this trend yet.  But hey, if Spencer (the trendiest Pretty Little Liar) is wearing it, then we all should be wearing it. Obviously.

We've got each other and that's a lot.

Happy Flashback Tuesday? Last night I made an entire '80s playlist (no, I wasn't even alive in that decade. Still a little bitter), and rediscovered some great gems.  Such as Livin' On A Prayer by Bon Jovi.  For some reason this song just makes me want to jump out of bed and go run a marathon...not really. But listening to it does put a little pep in my step.  Tell me, what's your favorite old school song to jam out to?

Emma Stone is just great. Here she is arriving at an airport probably about to go to a meeting that involves her plans to rule the world. I may have made that up...Nonetheless, her outfit is to die. I really, really want to find a pair of cute boots like she has on here.  Anyone know where I can find a pair?

Lately, I have been searching and searching for a good planner to use this year for school.  I finally stumbled upon this one from Jonathan Adler, and I'm literally going to stalk my mailman until it finally comes. Is it weird that the prospect of my planner coming in the mail is the highlight of my day?

Drop everything now, meet me in the pouring rain.

So Taytay just released her new "video" for Sparks Fly, one of my faves on Speak Now. And by video I mean just footage from her tour...oh well, clearly she's a busy girl. Also, as I was watching this video I was like, "What the hell is written all over you, Taylor?". I realize the number 13 is like your Holy Grail, but come on, you're not 12 years old anymore. There's no need to write it all over your hand...I'm judging you a tad. Sorry girl.

I woke up this morning and realized that my classes start in a week and a half, and it's practically fall. EXCUSE ME?!? Sorry, I just freaked out a little bit. It's really unbelievable that summer literally flew by.  But, then I remembered how much I love fall clothes and all was okay in the world again. Thank god.

You can expect me to wear some variation of this outfit every single day. It looks sooo comfortable!
I'm a HUGE fan of this color.  It's so fall-y and really looks great on everyone.
I absolutely love this nail polish color.  It's a great look for fall and is beautiful and subtle, two things I love about finger nail polish. Clearly for me, fall equals dressing in boring and comfortable clothes every day. Sorry I'm not sorry.

Last but certainly not least, can someone just please tell me where I can find/steal this dog from?
Harry Potter + cute puppy = I'm in love. Ah, way too adorable.

You rattle my bones.

Listen:
Faster - Matt Nathanson.  Matt's new album is SO GOOD. I just could eat him up. But who told you that nose ring was a good idea dude?

Love:
I'm hitting the road this weekend and taking a little trip to Boston! I can't wait to experience this beautiful city! Hope you all have a wonderful weekend as well!

Read:
I just recently started reading The Omnivore's Dilemma by Michael Pollan. I have a feeling it will be very eye-opening. I'm sure by the time I finish reading it, I'll probably give up eating every single kind of food.

8.11.2011

Look into my eyes and I'll own you.

Listen:
Moves Like Jagger - Maroon 5.  The video for this song is absurd. But hey, Adam Levine shirtless? Yes, please.

Love:
Oh Tory, you sure do know a way to a girl's heart with these to die for boots.  Too bad you just don't understand the limitations of a college budget...

Wahh I'm poor. To cheer myself up, I think I'll just look at pictures of puppies. Works every time...ah da babies.

Read:
Boo yah. Take that Apple. Clearly, Amazon is not into taking any of your new ridiculous selling restrictions in your app store.  Yesterday, they introduced the Kindle Cloud Reader which USA Today so nicely describes in this article. So cool!

Just a touch in the fire burning so bright.

Listen:
Just a Kiss - Lady Antebellum. Remember when I said I only like about 5 country songs? Well, I may have lied.  I guess summer just brings out the country in me. Nevertheless, I've been listening to this song non-stop, and the video is so cute, too!

Love:
Lately, I've spending most of my days doing these three things:

1) Soaking up the rays outside.  I love summer, mainly because I can just lay around and not have a care in the world. But also because of the sunshine of course! I swear, being in the sun makes me so much happier and so much nicer...

2) As I'm sure you've all figured out by now, I thoroughly enjoy reading a good book on my Kindle (I'm so obsessed. Thank you Amazon, you are a god.)

3) When I go back to school in a week and a half (!), it will be recruitment time! So lately I've been crafting for days for my future little one!

Read:
Lately, I've been reading a lot of non-fiction books [so intellectual of me, right?].  One of  my favorites that really left an impression on me is Outliers by Malcolm Gladwell.  I love how the author first identifies some intriguing mystery that you normally wouldn't notice and then delves further into the topic while sprinkling in some life lessons.

8.09.2011

'Cause you were always made to want it all.

Listen:
Moneygrabber - Fitz and The Tantrums.  I just happened to stumble upon a video of FATT, yes I'm lazy, performing this song at Lollapalooza and was bobbing my head after the first 5 seconds.  It has such a unique sound, and FATT is incredibly underrated.

Also, if you haven't heard of Spotify by now, I 150% recommend it.  It's like iTunes...on crack. Basically, you have access to every single song imaginable but never have to pay a dime.  I would say Spotify has to be reasonably comparable to heaven.

Love:
Ever since I first saw Michael Kors as a judge on Project Runway, I knew he was just great.

Someone buy me these shoes. Right now.

Definitely throw in this watch too.  I am in need of a sleek, professional looking watch.  Thank you Mr. Kors for tempting me with this gorgeous one.

Read:
Last summer, I visited New Orleans on a trip through my school, and completely fell in love with the city.  As I heard stories from some local residents, I also became very interested in what life was in the city immediately following Hurricane Katrina in 2005.  I picked up Zeitoun by Dave Eggers and was shocked/horrified/moved/etc by this story of a man who decided to stay behind to look after his home and business while his family evacuated the city.  I highly recommend it.

Baby I confess, I was not expecting this.

Listen:
Someone Like You - Matt Wertz.  So apparently I never get the memo about great songs until like two years after they're released. Really cool. However, I am obsessed with this song. So carefree. So happy. Hey, Matt Wertz, come find me.

Love:

Back to school shopping is my fave. I love the excitement that follows the unveiling of all of the new fall lines.  I really just love fall fashion. I really just love spending too much money...but hey, Madewell's new Fall Lookbook is irresistible.

We've been on the run, driving in the sun.

Listen:
I woke up this morning remembering how much I miss The O.C. and how great the show used to be...and of course how much I have missed this song.

Love:
I have this totally normal, healthy obsession with hedgehogs and all of their cuteness.

'Cause they're calling, calling, calling me home.

Listen:
Lights (Bassnectar Remix) - Ellie Goulding. SO GOOD. Seriously. I love the original song but, luckily, there are so many great remixes to it.  This one by Bassnectar is unreal.  Also there's another great remix to Lights by Potomac Boys Club, but it doesn't have as cool of a video as this...

Love:
I recently just watched The Adjustment Bureau featuring Matt Damon (looking as yummy as ever) and Emily Blunt.  Great love story with a little bit of action speckled in here and there.

Right now I'm reading The Help by Kathryn Stockett.  I've heard from so many friends that it's such a great book, and although I'm only a quarter of the way done, I'm already so hooked!  Literally, I've laughed out loud while reading it a few times and gotten weird looks from my family. And of course, it's being made into a movie (since clearly I only read books that get made into movies...) that opens August 10th!

Too Rah Loo Rye Aye

Listen:
Come On Eileen (Cover) - Sugarland and Sara Bareilles. Ah a great cover of such a classic song!

Love:

Lauren Conrad sure has come a long way since her days fighting for Stephen's love and affection on Laguna Beach.  Her new Paper Crown line is so sophisticated and girly, I love it!

Hmm so maybe money isn't the only thing college grads care about. This Fortune article polled 20,000 members of the class of 2011 and found that "opportunity for personal development" took the top spot as what they hoped to get out of their first jobs.  I don't know what types of people were interviewed, but for me it's all about making bank, brah.

Listen:
Summer just makes me want to lay outside, soak up some rays, and listen to country music. At least the 5 country songs I actually like. Anyone else?

Love:

First Post!

Hi everyone! I'm so excited to finally leave my first blog post, and seeing how I have entirely too much time on my hands, the first of many (but actually, someone help entertain me). Hope you enjoy!

Listen:

This whole entire album has been playing on repeat on my iPod for the entire summer.  Houdini is just one of my favorites, but I highly suggest listening to the entire album.  You will not be disappointed!

Love:

These outfits from Banana Republic's Mad Men line make me actually want to get a real job (I know, surprising, right?)

I just finished reading One Day by David Nicholls and absolutely loved it.  I had heard that the book was being made into a movie, so naturally I had to read it even though I had no clue what it was about.  The book tracks the lives of two friends on the anniversary of their first meeting over the next 20 years.  Here's the trailer for the movie, which I am also excited about!
